Confirming the rumours about the iPhone 3G prices in India, Vodaphone has released the price structure. And it’s as expensive as we thought it would be.
iPhone 3G will be available tomorrow - August 22nd at the following prices.
- 8GB model - Rs 31,000 ($710)
- 16GB model - Rs 36,100 ($820)
And this does not include the data and voice plan for iPhone 3G.
Vodaphone is urging anxious buyers to pre-register for the limited stock iPhone by paying Rs 10,000 in advance by cash or credit card. iPhone 3G will be available only at select Vodaphone stores. By registering, you get an appointment with a date and time so you don’t have to wait in line.
Of course, you would have to have a Vodaphone connection or buy their service to purchase the iPhone.

Vodaphone iPhone 3G Plans for India
Digital Inspiration has detailed some iPhone 3G plan pricing for India by Vodaphone. The monthly iPhone rent will be from Rs 500 to 1000. The cheaper plan gets you 50MB of free data and the other end of the plan offers you 600MB of data with a postpaid connection.
Vodaphone is not offering unlimited data plans in India which is offered elsewhere with iPhone 3G.
IMHO, iPhone 3G pricing is way way expensive in India. Granted AT&T faced similar outcries (including from yours truly) but they still sold out on the launch day. I am sure Vodaphone would garner the market which isn’t hesitant to spend whatever it is to purchase the iPhone 3G.
What do you think of iPhone 3G pricing in India? Would you get one?
