Beam Contacts & Pictures iPhone to iPhone – iBeam [paid app]

Oct 9, 2008

iBeam is a paid app but is FREE for a limited time in the AppStore as an introductory offer. iBeam lets you beam your contact information to another iPhone user in the same wi-fi network as you are.

Beaming isn’t anything new or groundbreaking but sorely missing in Apple’s iPhone. Now, you can do just that with iBeam.

Some things you can do with iBeam are:

  • Instantly beam contact information and photos directly iPhone to iPhone via wi-fi
  • Send the info to any device by email
  • Converts your info into a vcard and send it to any device via email
  • Option to turn off sharing certain contact information you want to keep private

I see iBeam being useful at certain instances. When I am at work sharing stuff with a colleague when we are on the same wi-fi. When a friend comes over to our place and on our wi-fi where we could exchange some pics easily.

I grabbed it as it was free but not sure if I would have bought it from AppStore. But, for someone who does this kind of stuff or have a lot of friends with iPhones, this could be an awesome app to have to share photos. What do you think?

  1. Great idea.

Pity it didn’t work on my G3.

It couldn’t find other iPhones on the network and it couldn’t email contacts.

So, I guess the price is right. :(

  2. Finally got this app to work after resetting my router.

Great App! Could you enable it to include appointments/events?

How the hell am I supposed to beam anything such as my contact list for starters from any other smart phone to my new iPhone?

This piece of crap is way too expensive for problems like that. I plug it in and my contacts should be sucked in on autopilot for the price. But no. Shitheads at Apple think everyone has iPhones out there. So, only iPhone to iPhone useless app… Really, why bother to make it simple???

No, stupid. 90% of the World is not using iPhones yet. And I regret I got that piece of shit cause I only have problems now with everything cause it is not compatible with any bloody thing.

    iBeam SUCKS.

Well that’s just one more reason the Iphone is a bad Idea!
Got mine because my good old Razor finaly died!…Had I of know that apple had this thing locked down like this I would have gotten a HTC PRO! I had a pocket pc and it could do more then my Iphone can out of the box. And that thing is almost eight years old. Glad this is the only piece of apple trash I have. Will switch when I can. Crapple!

Can contacts be beamed from my old Samsung Blackjack cell phone to the IPhone? How?
    Thanks

  8. Sergei: Wow, you really are disappointed with contacts sharing to iPhone so you go and make this conclusion: “iBeam SUCKS”.
