Hundred Pushups iPhone App Review

Posted by karthik On October - 28 - 2009

My friend @MattJabs and I share a lot of interests and we geek out on all sorts of things. He introduced me to the 100 Pushups program and got me started on it a few months ago.

Hundred Pushups aims at helping you strengthen your core through a 6 week program of scheduled pushups. I was sold at the idea and I started doing it.

How it works is that you get to loosely follow guidelines and you will get to do 5 reps of varying number of pushups. You will be doing that about 3 times a week. You would start slow and build on it.

I used to print the weekly sets in a paper and keep it around while I do it. Then summer came we started traveling more and soon I quit the program in the middle.

That’s when I found that there is an App for that!

Hundred Pushups iPhone just got a serious makeover and looks really slick.

Here’s how you’d use it:

You’d start by tapping the Today’s Programme button. You will be presented with the first rep you are going to do. The top of the screen also shows you the reps ahead. Once you are done with the first rep, tap the button and the rest timer will start. It will again beep when there is 3 seconds left for your next rep and so on.

If you are ready anytime in between, you just shake your iPhone to start the next rep.

And you can always do as many as you can in the final rep and log it.

Once you are done with your reps, you can go back to the main screen and look at the log graph of your progress.

Plus, the Setup screen has a few options. You can reset to a particular day to start over if you are feeling like you are rushing or for any other reason.

Also, if you were doing reps without your iPhone you can also fill the log with tho entries. Plus, the app has Facebook and Twitter integration if you are sharing this with your friends to keep yourself motivated.

Now, with my iPhone with me all the time (well most of the time anyways) I have managed to get through to the 4th week starting from the beginning again.

The $1.99 I spent on this app is defintely well worth it. In fact, I went ahead and bought their 200 Situps app as well and considering looking at the 200 Squats program as well.

I see myself using this app for a very long time as even after 6 weeks, I can just start over and keep repeating this program over and over again.

The recent release of this app had a bug that crashed it when tapping the log button but it has been fixed now. But, they have reduced the price to $0.99 this whole week so this is a great time to grab it!
