If there is one thing that bothers me about my iPhone, it is the inability to play music in the background while I surf or chat or play a game, etc. Apple prevented this intentionally in view of the performance hit the iPhone could take when processes run in the background slowing things down.
With the free jailbreak app, Backgrounder you can now run iPhone Apps in the background. You can get Backgrounder from Cydia and of course you need a jailbroken iPhone to use this.
How to Use Backgrounder
It’s very simple. Let’s go to the app you want to run in the background say, Pandora. Once you have Pandora running, press and hold the Home button for a moment until you see the message below.

Then you will be taken to the Home Screen with Pandora running in the background.

Now, enjoy what Apple says you can’t have! Of course there may be bugs or stuff that won’t work in the background but that’s not new to new in the jailbreak world, is it?

BTW i’ve always been able to listen to my iphone’s music while i was surfing the net…i haven’t jailbroken my iphone yet..is that “normal”?

I don’t see backgrounder in Cydia. I had to reinstall my iPhone so I’m trying to get all of my apps back.
