iPhone Tip: How to Attach Multiple Photos to Email?

Jul 18, 2009

Recently, a friend of mine asked if there was a way to attach multiple photos to an email right from the Camera Roll.

I was like, um, I haven’t tried that yet. I have to say it wasn’t that obvious. But, the actual answer is, you can.

When you are in the Camera Roll, tap on the Share icon in the bottom

Now you will the bottom panel change to ‘Share, Copy, Delete’

Now, you are in a mode where you can select multiple pictures for one of these actions – share, copy or delete.

Just start tapping on pictures and you will see the count in the bottom panel. Share button lets you email pictures but has a 5 picture limit.

If you need to send more than 5 pictures, use the copy menu to copy your pictures and paste it in your email.

Of course, the copy paste option needs your device to be on OS 3.0. Hope you enjoyed this little tip and we have more iPhone Tips coming up.

    • Jessica, do you which iPhone OS version are you on? I believe this is a feature introduced in 3.0. You can find your version in Settings -> About -> Version. Mine says 3.0 (7A341). Let me know if this helped.

I cannot copy photos to my email (gmail). When I copy the photo, the only thing copied and sent is “IMG…”. How do you copy the actual image into the email? Thanks.

  4. Kevin,

I have done this multiple times and it works like a charm. In fact I did it this evening. Just curious, what iPhone OS version are you on? (You can find it by going to Settings -> General -> About -> Version)

  5. I have pictures stored in my iphone that i have not been able to
attach in email and send to another addressee.
it’s not sending the email @ all.

I bring up my photos on my iphone and scoll to – “send-copy-delete” Then I mark the photo I want to send with a red check
mark and press the email key at the bottom of the screen.
it brings up the one photo and @ the top allows me the addressee
I want to send this to.
    Then I press send.
The adressee never receives the email or the picture sent with the email.
I have done this over and over and to different email addresses
    and it never works….PLEASE HELP.

I have OS 3.1.3 but when I select more than one photo (and less than 5), the “share” button is not highlighted. I am only able to select “copy” an “delete”. (BTW, I have the 3GS iPhone 16GB)

  8. You should check out ‘Photo Transfer App’. It lets you transfer up to 50 pictures at one time from iPhone to iPad over wifi. The photos are transferred at full resolution (when you send them through email you loose the quality of the pic).

    Check it out: http://www.phototransferapp.com

    Cheers.
