Have you had instances where you are trying view a landscape picture lying down? iPhone’s accelerometer turns even an landscape mode picture to portrait mode.

Quick Tip: Temporarily Lock Image Orientation While Viewing

There are a few apps that provide a UI lock control that lets you lock orientation. For example, a ebook reader app could become annoying if it changes orientation because you are trying to read it lying down in the bed.

Quick Tip

Tap and hold anywhere on the screen to stop the Photos app from rotating the image when you rotate the phone. This lets you view your landscape UI—that’s been saved as a portrait image—in landscape.

I came across this tip through Thomas at Just Another iPhone Blog. He in turn had found this tip at the Bjango blog.
