I got very busy last week and didn’t get around placing a pre-order for my iPhone 3GS via AT&T.
My heart sank when I read the news from Patrick at my favorite iPhone blog that AT&T had no more iPhone 3GS for pre-order to get it on June 19.
I was about to hit myself in the head with an omlette pan. So, I got on Apple’s website and checked out their online availability. As mine is an AT&T upgrade, they checked my eligibility for a iPhone 32GB for $299 and approved me.
So, I went ahead and placed an order at the Apple online store and my order status shows that my iPhone 3GS delivers on June 19! w00t.
I chose to get it shipped to my house as a nearest Apple is store is 58 miles away from me. I can avoid the lines even if it means I won’t have a 3GS in my hand early in the morning. Since, its a working day for me I won’t get to do much with it until the end of the day anyways.
Plus, I got the iPhone 3G from a AT&T store first thing in the morning for my wife. It does have its appeal but I am trying it shipped this time.
Apple Shipment Notes
I placed my order this morning around 9 AM and I got an order acknowledgement from Apple around 2PM. Yes, I was a little nervous until I received that.
Even though there is a whole Apple thread of people saying some people received an email indicating that iPhone 3GS ships on 19th and arrives on 24th for some people, mine still says ‘Delivers on 19th’. I chose ‘Standard Free Shipping’.
Also, some Apple 3GS orders seem to have been updated with UPS tracking numbers. They are shipping from Shenzen, China to arrive here on June 19!
