Animoto - Picture SlideShows on your iPhone

Posted by shriya On January - 8 - 2009

Animoto is out to put an end to boring slideshows.

Animoto

Animoto is a web application that turns your pictures into beautiful music videos. You can read our full Animoto review here. And it’s now available on iPhone.

Animoto iPhone app lets you select 8-16 photos from your picture library, select a music for the background and it creates a slideshow/video from your pics on the fly. You can watch it on your iPhone or email it to friends.

Here is one I quickly did from a few screenshots I had in my iPhone.

If you can’t already feel the excitement with the possibilities this app brings for you, let me help you visualize it. Lets say you are at a birthday party and you are snapping pics with your iPhone. You don’t have to wait to get home to create slideshows. Instead, you can create one while you are at the party and show/send it to everyone.

You can download the application here!

Posted by karthik On November - 20 - 2008

We covered OrbLive - Watch Live TV in iPhone over 3G recently. As a recap, OrbLive is an iPhone App that lets you watch live TV in your iPhone or Touch.

You need to have Orb software installed in your PC and your PC should have a TV tuner card to receive TV programs. Using that setup, you can stream live TV to you beloved device.

OrbLive for iPhone

There was some specultaion if OrbLive 2.0 would make it past Apple’s checkpoint to AppStore but we were just notifed by Orb Networks that their App has made it to the AppStore.

You can get OrbLive’s Free version or the paid version for $9.99. The paid version will play any media from your PC - music/videos, photos, webcams, even live TV. The free version limits you to 3 randomly chosen titles of each type instead of giving control to choose.

The possibilities are endless being able to stream stuff to your iPhone or iPod Touch. Check it out for yourself and see how creative you get with it.

Between don’t forget to get your digital tv converters for your TV as it’s all becoming digital soon.

Extend Your iPhone 3G Camera with Telescope Lens

Posted by karthik On November - 5 - 2008

IPhone’s camera is pretty good but you can only do so much with it. It’s very good for capturing those special moments when you don’t have a regular camera but capture it with your iPhone. And the native iPhone camera doesn’t have the zoon you’d need to capture distant objects.

SNY is hoping to change this by bringing out SNY iPhone 3G Camera Telescope Lens with Crystal Clear Case. It offers an awesome 6x optical zoom. The detachable 18mm lens attaches to the clear case that comes with the lens that you can snap on to the iPhone with the adapater.

From the product description

The new design to run of rays can effectively avoid the contortion of image, and makes the super wide angle, the larger luminous flux, the higher visual acuteness, good for color reduction, which makes the high quality of photography.

So what do you think of this one? Would you need a telescope lens for your iPhone?

Use Pixup to Upload Pics from iPhone [free app]

Posted by shriya On October - 19 - 2008

Pixup is a free iPhone/iPod Touch App that is a well rounded application that lets you upload pictures straight to online services.

Pixup supports 3 major online services that I use - Flickr, Picasa Web albums & Facebook. You can upload pictures from your iPhone Cameraroll or straight from your iPhone camera as you take it.

Picup also lets you add title & tag to your picture. You can choose if you want to add it with low or high resolution. In fact, you can even choose to attach location information to your picture.

I use Pixup for pretty much all the pictures I use here and upload it to Flickr from my iPhone. What do you use to upload pictures to Flickr or other online services?

Flickr Unveils iPhone Optimized Mobile Site

Posted by shriya On October - 3 - 2008

Flickr has to be one of the most used web services for a iPhone user. We all take pictures with our iPhones and upload them using various apps like Pixup to Flickr. But, browsing Flickr itself with our iPhone wasn’t that great.

Now, Flickr has unveiled its iPhone-optimized mobile site - m.flickr.com. It’s fabulous. Most used links are at the top.You can see Activity, your sets, contacts, photostream, etc. You can view a picture and leave comments.

But, you don’t get the Uploadr, Organizr and Map that you get in the Flickr website. But, that’s probably ok as long as you can browser your sets & collections. But, sadly the slideshow feature is also missing. You can even add the Flickr web app to your Home with a nice icon set. if you’d like to see the screenshots instead, click over to the link below where Josh Bancroft has tons of them!
